This past week, I’ve been listening to a lot of lute and classical guitar music, plus binge-listening to Maddy Prior, Sting and Loreena Mckennit on repeat. Comfort music, you know. But the general mixtape series were made for tracks released in the same year aka “new releases” — so I’m going to attempt to play catch-up this last week of the year. I’ve been listening steadily to new releases almost every week so I do have a long list of things I like, which is partially why I decided to unlock this blog early.
Here are some songs I’ve really been enjoying, lately.
The Other Lover — Little Dragon & Moses Sumney
I love Moses Sumney’s croon so much! New music from him is always a joy and this collab with Little Dragon is perfect.
Same Damn Luck — Nilufer Yanya
Was quite excited that there was a new Nilufer Yanya track.
The Divine Chord — The Avalanches feat. MGMT and Johnny Marr
Stargazing — The Neighbourhood
Her Revolution — Burial. Four Tet, Thom Yorke
I can’t get over how perfect this one is.
Inflate — Lisel
Social Cues — Teezo Touchdown
I feel so called out by this song lol. But I love it. Reminds me of the kinds of songs I was grooving to circa 91-
92. Instant connection both emotionally and musically, it’s going into my top ten songs of 2020 list. Teezo Touchdown is definitely someone to look out for.
