Yet another Friday the 13th!
It’s been a very satisfactory week for music thusfar. I listened to some excellent new albums: Hen’s Teeth by Iron & Wine, The Mirror by Buck Meek (of Big Thief), and Heaven 2 by Lala Lala. On the more classical/experimental end of things I listened to Erland Cooper’s Music for Growing Flowers (Nocturne).
I subscribed to YouTube Music last weekend because I discovered they pay musicians nearly the most amongst all the streaming services (iirc Tidal takes that prize) but the monthly costs are reasonable for subscribers. To my delight, I discovered Takashi Yoshimatsu’s entire catalogue there. So I’ve had a very happy week listening to all the Yoshimatsu my heart could desire.
Other listens include a lot of Mitski, Joanna Newsom, Flock of Dimes, Sean Shibe, and my kickass NYE 2025 playlist which is still making me very happy in March 2026.
Tomorrow is Pi Day so in anticipation I’m listening to Kate Bush’s Aerial right now. If you know you know.
Happy is the nerdcore household with very many (plurimi) nerdy and literary traditions.
