I wanted to revisit a year that seemed to epitomize my awakening in my 30s, which was soundtracked by these larger than life indie records I played nonstop. My third year of PhD candidature and finally getting a sense of control/self over my life and my research. It was a year of brilliant highs and abysmal lows.
Baby Blue — Martina Topley Bird
World Sick — Broken Social Scene
Still so anthemic, and so healing in a very strange way.
I Think Ur A Contra — Vampire Weekend
Your Hands (Together) — The New Pornographers
Not only did I play the album on repeat, but I saw them live for the second time in 2010. Another anthem for the 2010s.
Have One On Me — Joanna Newsom
I think I saw her live twice that year? This album was so haunting.
Karen — Chew Lips
Paradise Circus — Massive Attack
Ahh, Massive Attack was one of my high points of 2010. 💜 ♥️ ❤️
Get Real, Get Right — Sufjan Stevens
