Most of my playlists begin with a musical anchor. Today it starts with Steve Reich’s Electric Counterpoint which I have been listening to on repeat this morning to cleanse my psyche of some troubling and pretty icky miasmas. Played by the incomparable Sean Shibe. Music, as always — should be, and is — the roadmap leading me back to myself.
Next, we have A Silver Mt Zion or Thee Silver Mt. Zion, or whatever they’re calling themselves now. I still hope, in a post-pandemic world to come that things will somehow be safe enough to my somehow listening to them play live.
Shaking my fists like antennas, as always.
A switch in tonal colours, some Deafheaven.
And since that was almost shoegaze, here’s one of my mainstays whenever I need to cleanse my soul. My Bloody Valentine. Always.
And some Phillip Glass, since I’ve been thinking about minimalism a lot this morning.
Finally, some Richard Skelton.
